Le Bureau du Corbeau

Welcome to Le Bureau du Corbeau - The Raven's Writing Desk, a blog that I'll be using to track my experiences in my new home in Franceas well as the odd post about politcs, Eurovision, music and life in general.

For long-time followers, we've come a long way! This has to be at least the 4th blog I've produced and I'm fully aware of the danger of scaring people away with the constant changes but I can assure you that it truly is now sink or swin for Le Bureau du Corbeau!

So why the new blog? Content-wise it will be laregly the same as my previous one in that it will mainly focus on my daily life in France as an expat though this time around I'm hoping to do some blogging in French as well as in English so keep a look out for such content - my contact and about pages are already bilingual.

I should also point out that I'm not a tech wizz and I had some severe bugging issues with my previous blog so, as much as I loved it (and thank you for having read it!), it was genuinely so much easier to scrap it and start afresh which should benefit both me and you!

The Name

As is common, my blog's title is taken from the literary genius that is Lewis Carroll via Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Perhaps one of it's most famous quotes is "Why is a raven like a writing desk?" - the point of this quote is that it has no answer, it's nonsense and it's supposed to make us question our need and hunger for everything to have a purpose. So, taking my new home and language as further inspiration, I have Le Bureau du Corbeau, The Raven's Writing Desk.

The Style

One thing I've learned from my (too) many blogs is that simple really is best so that's been the key here. I've used a very simple colour palette utilising just black, white and gold which makes the blog much easier to access and read. This blog also has newer features such as a drop-down sidebar and a menu at the top of the page so that the posts don't feel crowded and, again, are easier to read.

For those interested in the quote on the homepage against the black feathers, it reads:
« Je ne peux pas revenir à hier parce que j'étais une personne différente »
Which is, naturally, another Alice quote:
"I can't go back to yesterday because i was a different person then"

So, again, another huge thank you to those who have stuck with me through my various blogs and a hearty welcome to any newcomers. Please let me know what you think of the new blog, the new look and yet another 'fresh start' - I'm totally open to criticism so let me have it!

Also if there's anything in particular you'd like to see from my blog, let me know about that too - very keen to know what it is that people like from me!

Merci à tous, à bientôt!
